I thought of you today mama, but that is nothing new.
I watched this flower bloom in my garden, and of course I thought of you.
This flower bud, so fragile and unique, beckons the essence of you,
a silent petal falls from my cheek.
The silent petals keep falling, from my face onto the ground.
I am brought to my knees, as you are no longer around.
Dad spoke of you today, and how he misses you so.
He told me a story of how he met you on that day,
Of how the two of you were always there for each other, and now he is in dismay.
Brother misses you just as much,
He just doesn’t talk about it openly like us.
He finds solace that you are now at long overdue rest.
He will always be your sweet baby boy,
Even though life is so much more different now, of your love, we are sure.
There are so many things we wish you were here for,
Nonetheless, we remind ourselves that you are now happy on that golden shore.
We continue to move forward, some days are better than the others.
The sun shines on our faces and for a moment we no longer suffer.
We visit you in memories, looking back in glee.
We were so lucky to have you, of this we all agree.
One day we will be reunited, you will be in perfect health.
Fully restored and praising Jesus, there will be no more death.
These silent petals continue to flow,
Another bud has sprouted, the garden relentlessly continues to grow.
We will have so much to tell you, as if you didn't already know.
We will hug and laugh together again, love and happiness will overflow.
With dirt on my fingers, I cling to the promise that both you and He are with me through it all.
From the thorn to the bloom, I am reminded of His mercies made anew.
These silent petals fall, even as you bask in His light,
looking over our shoulders, morning, noon and night.
